MP Fred Outa attacked in a funeral

Nyando Member of Parliament Fred Outa on Saturday attacked by rowdy youth at a burial he was attending in Ahero, Kisumu County.

Trouble reportedly began when the ODM’s nominee for Kisumu senatorial race took to the stage to address mourners who had gathered to lay former area MP Miruka Owuor to rest.

Youth, believed to be allied to Governor Jack Ranguma’s camp demanded that the Outa – who is supporting the candidature of Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o –leaves the burial.

The Nyando MP, who will face off with independent candidate Ochola Ogoda in August 2017 polls, and his bodyguards fired several shots in the air as they scampered for safety when chaos broke out.

Mourners reportedly smashed Outa’s car windows as others threw chairs at each other.

It took the efforts of the police to restore order, and the burial was temporarily halted for several hours.
