MP Kanini Kega responds to Ruto after their tiff in Mathira

Kieni MP Kanini Kega has spoken for the first time since his public dress down by Deputy President William Ruto.

In a statement after the burial of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua’s mother, the MP said that anyone who picked an issue with his message should query the president.

“The president can send anyone. He has friends all over, I am not supposed to be asked any questions. Let them direct their questions to the president himself,” the MP said.

During the funeral, the MP had taken to the podium purporting to be speaking for the president whom he claimed, had sent him with a Ksh. 500,000 contribution.

But the Deputy President would have none of it, telling the legislator in no uncertain terms to stick to his lane.

“You all know that there is only one person in Kenya who was sworn in to deputise the President. And I will do that very diligently. Everybody should do their job.

“If you are working in a hospital do that. If you are a watchman or MCA do your job. Let us respect each other,” the DP said.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome, who recently criticized the President, also took issue with the Kieni MP.

She accused him of breaching protocol in claiming to represent the Head of State while the Deputy President was present.
