MP Mbarire, Senator Kivuti in near fist fight
A funds drive at Karurumo in Embu East turned chaotic on Sunday, September 18 after Runyenjes Member of Parliament, Cecily Mbarire, and Embu Senator, Lenny Kivuti, were involved in a verbal altercation.
The function, which was aimed at raising Ksh 2.5 million for setting up a music studio to help nurture local talent, turned political after Mbarire’s supporters shouted down Senator Kivuti as he attempted to address them.
In anger, the Senator lashed out at his rival’s supporters telling them to leave the function, prompting Mbarire to intervene.
The two leaders almost went physical as they shouted at each other, prompting the function to come to a stand still.
In full glare of their supporters, the two exhibited their political mighty as they battled for the possession of the microphone.
The politicians left in different directions without having contributed their share as they had promised the musicians.
Mbarire and Kivuti are among the six politicians who are eyeing for the gubernatorial post to unseat Martin Wambora in the 2017 General Election.
