MP Moses Kuria among 30 arrested for flouting COVID-19 protocols
The outspoken legislator was reportedly apprehended in Kiambaa and transported to the Karuri police station.
Failure to wear a mask, defying curfew hours, and unlawful assembly are among the charges leveled against those detained.
The lawmaker did not specify the reason for his arrest in a Facebook message, but he did share several pictures of himself without a mask.
“Arrested! Held at Karuri Police Station. Kiambu Court tomorrow. Still- #MeneMeneTekel #FinishAndGo,” he captioned the photos.
Meanwhile, The total number of confirmed positive cases in the country has now reached 146,153, with 1,564,827 samples tested so far.
According to a statement released to the media on Monday by the Ministry of Health, 486 new infections were realized in 2,989 samples tested between Sunday and Monday.
Kenyans are urged to observe the Ministry of Health COVID-19 protocols on social distancing, wearing of face masks and personal hygiene.
