MP wants a health commission formed

Manyatta Member of Parliament, John Muchiri, has expressed concerns over the ongoing health crisis that has disrupted health services in public health facilities across the country.

Mr. Muchiri says that there is a need of creating a National Commission for Health Workers, similar to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Muchiri said that the health sector was not manageable in its current position since the county government was handling human resource while the national government was handling standards and policies.

He said that there was need for a referendum to enable Kenyans to re-look into thorny issues in the constitution and create such a commission that will handle all emerging issue in the health sector.

The Manyatta MP said that the commission will be able to pool together all health workers and see the areas that are needy while the county supervises their duties.

The MP, who is also a member of health committee, said that the country has to check the constitution and address the gaps that have led to conflict in derailing the devolution.

He called upon the nurses to resume duties and allow the political temperatures to subside as the budget undergoes a check to enable their plight of salaries factored.
