MP wants DP Ruto investigated for hate speech

Narok North Member of Parliament Moitalel Ole Kenta has asked relevant government agencies to investigate Deputy President William Ruto for hate speech.

Addressing journalists in Narok town, Kenta said that Ruto on his numerous trips to the county and using local dialect has been making potentially inflammatory utterances against a certain community and its leaders.

“I will insist that the deputy president be investigated for hate speech because he has been going around abusing leaders, abusing communities because he thinks he is above the law,” said ole Kenta.

Kenta, however, insisted that local leaders will stand united against any attempts to divide their people along tribal, political or clan lines.

The MP also castigated the deputy president for taking advantage of the Mau Forest crisis to win political support from some communities residing in Narok County.

“He goes to the periphery, he goes to a place like Sogoet and the first thing that he says is  Mau Forest. You keep quiet because Mau Forest is already being decided,” added ole Kenta.

Kenta and other political leaders from Narok County warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of an orchestrated mass transfer of voters from Bomet County aimed at influencing the forthcoming August polls.

Narok County gubernatorial aspirant Musuni ole Tiampati gave IEBC a two-week ultimatum to transfer its offices from Bomet to Narok Town, failure to which they (leaders) would take unspecified measures against the electoral body.

Former Narok Maasai Council of Elders Chair – Kerina Ole Nchoe disclosed that the Maa Community leaders would reveal their preferred presidential candidate on February 04, 2017.
