MP wants Murkomen, Waiguru out of political contests

Homa Bay Women Representative, Gladys Wanga, has challenged Senator Kipchuma Murkomen and former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru, to clear their names first before going for any elective positions.

Speaking at Mudaho Primary School in her Ugunja Constituency during a price giving day, Ms Wanga said that since the Public Accounts Committee reports on the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal has been released and the duo have been extensively implicated, they have to forget about campaigning for elective positions before they can be cleared, saying that it is against Chapter Six of the Constitution for an individual who is being probed over graft to vie for any political or appointive seat.

Ms Wanga added that it is only after facing prosecution and coming out clean that the two can face Kenyans and ask for votes.

The National Assembly Public Accounts Committee led by Rarieda MP, Nicholas Gumbo, recommended that a lifestyle audit be conducted on Ms Waiguru in relation to the NYS cash theft.
