MP’s lorry nabbed ferrying drugs

A lorry owned by Lamu West Member of Parliament Julius Ndegwa was on Wednesday evening impounded by police after it was found ferrying drugs.

The lorry was nabbed by police acting on a tip off who after inspection found 390 rolls of bhang and 24 sachets of heroine concealed in a cement consignment headed to Lamu.

Ndegwa admitted that he indeed owned the vehicle but vehemently denied any involvement in the drugs that were nabbed.

He said he was not aware that his workers were drug dealers and that they were illegally using his vehicle to peddle bhang and heroine.

Three occupants who were in the car were arrested and are being held at Mpeketoni police station.

The Legislator lauded the police for the bust and called for a stiff action against the three.
