MPs, senators swearing-in ceremony underway

The swearing-in of the 12^th Parliament members has kicked-off in both the National Assembly and Senate with Senators Fatuma Dulo, Beth Mugo, Yusuf Haji and MPs David Sankok, Aden Duale, Moses Cheboi, James Angwenyi, Gedion Konchella, Wafula Wamunyinyi among those who have already been sworn-in.

There were fears that NASA lawmakers would boycott the swearing-in but at the last minute unanimously agreed to attend after a meeting with their leadership but insisted that they will derail the election of speakers until Supreme Court Judges  rule on the presidential election petition.

The 12th Parliament Jubilee Party commands a majority of 199 members while NASA has 127 while independent members stand at 22.

In the Senate; Jubilee and its affiliates dominate with 38 members while NASA has 29 with two independent senators.
