MPs To Grill Kavuludi Over Police Recruitment

Kavuludi is expected to shed light on the exercise as well as the nullification of the recruitment in 36 centres countrywide.

The NPSC nullified the recruitment in the 36 centres 2 days ago after "it found massive irregularities" in the exercise that took place on 14th July 2014.

This follows complaints from the public as well as leaders that the exercise was marred by nepotism and corruption.

The Asman Kamama led committee has been investigating allegations of bribery, nepotism and political interference during the July 14 exercise.

Those summoned to appear before the committee are Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo, CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro and Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission chairperson Mumo Matemu.

According to Kavuludi, a total of 1,215 new recruits would be affected by the annulments that he said were done after its own investigations.

The move to cancel the exercise was done a day after the High Court directed Kavuludi and his team not to issue admission letters to the 10,000 recruits.

The court further ordered that no report on alleged malpractises should be released to the public until a case filed by the Independent Police Oversight Authority is heard and determined.

The cancelled 36 centres include: Tana Delta District headquarters, Mandera North Youth, Rhamu police station, Merti DC headquarters, Kinoru Stadium, Nguthiru Stadium-Tigania, Umau grounds-Mbeere, Njambini-Kinangop, Engineer Centre-Nyandarua, Othaya Stadium, Gatanga Primary School, Kandara Stadium, Kangema General Kago, Kigumo Bendera Secondary School, Kapenguria police, Sigor Training Centre, Chepkorio DC's office-Keiyo South, Chesoi Primary School, Moi Girls' Secondary School-Marakwet, Kapsaet parade ground, Maraba-Tinderet, Eldama Ravine playground, Mogotio police station, and Doldol Training Centre.
