MPs To Meet KNUT, TSC Officials
The committee chair Julius Melly said the committee is against KNUT calls for the teachers strike saying it is ill-timed since candidates are preparing to sit for their KCPE and KCSE.
Melly also asked the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chair Sarah Serem not to sit on the fence whenever teachers and other workers raise issues on salaries.
Addressing parents, teachers and students at Kapsabet girls’ secondary school, the committee chair added that the country cannot be run on strikes raised by union leaders.
Melly also intimated that parliament will also summon education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi over delays in disbursement of free primary and secondary education funds.
Melly emphasized that the constitution allows every Kenyan child access to quality education.
