Two (MPs) Members of Parliament from Laikipia North on Monday, November 21 engaged in a fist fight after differing on matters security.

Laikipia North MP, Matthew Lempurkel, and nominated MP, Sarah Korere, engaged in the fist fight outside Harambee House, Nairobi, after meeting Interior Cabinet Secretary, Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery, to discuss the rising insecurity in their region.

The two MPs, after engaging in a bitter exchange of words, turned violent allegedly exchanging blows with each faulting the other over the rising insecurity in the constituency.

“Laikipia County cannot and will not be led by militia,” a bitter Sarah Korere was quoted as saying during a recent address to members of her constituency.

MP Korere accused her counterpart, Lempurkel, of orchestrating the clashes in the region

The MP on the other hand accused the nominated MP of being unable to lead the constituency during her tenure.

According to sources, the rivalry between the two escalated a fortnight ago after Korere expressed interest in the post currently held by Lempurkel.
