MPs from Siaya County have been asked to give Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga an ample time to work instead of constantly attacking and insulting him.

Local politicians led by former chairman of the defunct Bondo Town Council Henry Ondeje have warned the MPs against their constant attacks on the Governor, arguing that this was interfering with the running of the affairs of the county.

The former chairman, who took issue with Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and his Rarieda counterpart Nicholas Gumbo, implored the MPs to instead concentrate on the roles for which they were elected instead of wasting time attacking and insulting one another in public forums.

Mr Ondeje, who was speaking to Radio Ramogi in Bondo town, stated that the MPs need to confine their efforts in uniting the community ahead of 2017 General Election instead of hurling unnecessary abuses at their fellow leaders.

He has challenged the MPs to work hard to leave behind some legacy, noting that none of them has even come up with a tangible Bill such as the Donde Bill which Kenyans have lived to remember several years after the exit of former Gem MP Joe Donde.

The former chairman who challenged the elected leaders from across Luo-Nyanza region to embrace total peace, stated that the MPs re free to run for the gubernatorial seat when the right time comes and not cause interference at this particular moment.

His sentiments were echoed by youths from Bondo constituency led by Felix Omondi who stated that the MPs need to start focusing on how Cord leader Raila Odinga can win the next general elections, instead of engaging in unnecessary sideshows.

In a quick rejoinder, Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo and his Gem counterpart Jakoyo Midiwo slammed at Ondeje, saying he is not their supervisor to dictate to them what to say or not.

Gumbo stated that they have a right to demand for accountability of public funds in Siaya County because they are Siaya MPs and who are also taxpayers.
