MPs vow to thwart Speaker Justin Muturi ouster

The MPs said Speaker Justin Muturi has done nothing wrong to warrant such a move, noting that they will stand with the speaker to wane the opposition’s move.

Speaking in Othaya during the burial of Nairobi businessman Gregory Kimani, Starehe MP Maina Kamanda and area MP Mary Wambui said they will on Tuesday resist any attempt to kick-out speaker Muturi.

Muturi has come out fighting, accusing members of Parliament of ganging up against him and seeking to punish him for exposing corruption in various parliamentary committees.

DIGNITY OF 11TH PARLIAMENT

Kamanda and Wambui defended the speaker saying that he has respected the dignity of 11th Parliament and urged him to keep pushing for accountability and integrity in Parliament.

The Parliament and parliamentary committees have come under sharp criticism from various political quarters over various corruption allegations that have been leveled against them.

Of great attention is the corruption allegation leveled against Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Ababu Namwamba and some of his committee members who were accused of receiving bribes to audit reports touching on the Office of the President.

Namwamba has since distanced himself from the said allegations, terming them a plot by some of his committee members to weaken his stand on corruption.

It has also emerged that the agriculture committee's chairman Adan Noor allegedly received a bribe to strike off some names from the recently released report on the dwindling fortunes of Mumias Sugar Company.
