MRC leader released on Sh200,000 bond
A court in Kwale on Monday released alleged Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) leader Omar Mwamnuadzi on a Sh200,000 bond after Judge Paul Mutai denied a request by Prosecutor Cecil Wakoli to decline Mwamnuadzi’s bond application saying the charges leveled against him were serious.
The suspect was arrested at his home in Ng’ombeni County on January 24, 2016 and charged with being a member of MRC, raising and receiving money for the organisation and being in possession of illegal documents contrary to the law.
The court further warned Mwamnuadzi against associating with the outlawed group, as his case was still ongoing.
Mwamnuadzi was arraigned in court on January 25, 2016.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was found in possession of Sh210,000 for the purpose of furthering the activities of the group and documents bearing the words ‘Pwani si Kenya’.
