Mudavadi: I will still run for President

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has maintained that he will still take a stab at the presidential seat in the next general elections.

Mudavadi, speaking during a series of political rallies in Matuga and Msambweni areas, Kwale County, compared himself to past elected presidents who have, previously, served as opposition leaders; a role he says he is currently serving in.

The ANC leader cited examples such as current President Uhuru Kenyatta and his predecessors Mwai Kibaki and Daniel Moi who served in the opposition before rising to the country’s top office.

“(President) Uhuru was in the opposition as the Chairman of KANU and he is now president. (Daniel arap) Moi was in the opposition and became president. (Mwai) Kibaki was in the opposition and became president,” said Mudavadi.

“I, Musalia, am now also in opposition… why would I not become president?” Posed the National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal to an excited crowd.

Musalia Mudavadi vied for the country’s presidency in the 2012 general elections and came in third position.
