Mudavadis Amani party sets conditions for joining CORD

The Amani National Congress (ANC) party leaders have vowed to support the formation of a super alliance between them and the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) on condition that its party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, is fronted as the presidential candidate.

This comes amid growing speculations that the opposition coalition is courting the Mudavadi-led party with plans of forming a coalition that would face Jubilee in the 2017 presidential election.

Speaking at a Kakamega hotel on Wednesday, October 12, ANC chairman, Julius Arunga, and Regional Coordinator, Major Malala, said that their party leader has all the necessary virtues and skills to lead the country calling on CORD leader, Raila Odinga, to support him.

They said their aim is to have the Jubilee administration out of power and are willing to work with like-minded individuals to ensure their push bears fruit.

Arunga called on Kenyans to support Mudavadi in a bid to ensure development is realized in all parts of the country.

He also hit out at legislators from the region who joined Jubilee saying they stand no chance of winning re-election in the 2017 polls.

Mudavadi got 483,981 votes in the 2013 elections behind Raila Odinga (5,340,546) and Uhuru Kenyatta (6,173,433).

It is on this basis that ODM has insisted that Raila Odinga is the only opposition leader able to unseat President Kenyatta to the disgruntlement of his coalition co-principals Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka.’
