Mudavadis entry into CORD would be game changer Wetangula

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has stated that the probable entry of Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi into CORD would be a gamer changer in the run up to the 2017 General Election.

Speaking at PAG Church at Shauri Moyo in Nairobi on Sunday, Wetangula said that Mudavadi had already expressed interest in joining CORD, adding that doing so would see them defeat Jubilee by a huge margin.

“Musalia Mudavadi has expressed readiness to join CORD. His move would be a game shot in as far as the 2017 presidential election is concerned,” he said.

He faulted Jubilee for frustrating devolution saying the government is reluctant to disburse money for development in the counties.

Wetangula also called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate Deputy President William Ruto’s source of wealth, saying his salary cannot sustain his tendency to give huge sums in harambees.

“We know that DP Ruto’s salary does not exceed Ksh2 million. It is therefore odd that he can afford to give millions in harambees every weekend,” said the CORD co-principal.

He called for agreement within CORD affiliate parties saying only one party should field a candidate in any region.

Wetangula also called on the people of Nairobi to register as voters ahead of the next polls to ensure the coalition win all the seats in the county.

“The most seats that Jubilee can get from Nairobi are four. As CORD we want to sweep all the other seats.”

He revealed plans by CORD to hold a meeting next week to discuss ways of strengthening the coalition, which has in the past been rocked by unrest and disquiet among its members.

Wetangula said that the newly launched Jubilee Party was only for two tribes of President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto saying CORD is the only coalition that would unite Kenyans.

On Nairobi politics, Wetangula said CORD should stand firm and support Governor Evans Kidero’s reelection bid in order to wade off competition form Jubilee.

“After the elections, Jubilee tried to remove Kidero from office through the court but failed. Let us ensure they do not win in the next elections.”

He further noted that the coalition leaders would support anyone who is picked to carry the coalition flag in the 2017 presidential elections.
