Mugo Wa Wairimu detained as surety withdrawn

Mugo Wa Wairimu detained as surety withdrawn

‘Doctor’ Mugo Wairimu found himself in trouble after his surety applied to withdraw his surety deposited in court.

John Ngugi Wateiyo told the court that he needs his title deed so as to facilitate a loan in bank and pay school fees for his children.

Nairobi Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo allowed the application and cancelled Mugo’s surety.

This means that Mugo Wa Wairimu will stay in remand as he finds another surety.

He has been accused of raping a sedated woman and illegally operating clinics in Nairobi’s Githurai estate.

The ‘doctor’ is accused of sexually assaulting a sedated patient while posing as a medic. He was last week detained for 10 days after skipping a court session.

The prosecutor said that on November 1, 2014 at Prestige Healthcare Clinic in Nairobi, Mugo  raped a woman after giving her four tablets of an unknown drug.

He is also charged with employing two unregistered lab technicians, and presenting himself as a doctor and purporting to practise medicine while not registered and licensed as a physician.

He is facing another count of being in possession of and using a radiation device without a permit from the Radiation Protection Board.
