Mulembe FM leads fight against Diarrhoea in Western region

Royal Media Services’ radio station Mulembe FM, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, has embarked on a sensitisation exercise to educate the public on curbing cases of diarrhoea.

The exercise, which will cover the Western region, targets 20,000 residents, especially children.

Speaking at St John’s Bulanda Church in Busia County, the health officer in charge of the exercise, Philip Mbuva, said the objective of the exercise is to educate the community on how to save the lives of their children by using proper drugs and maintaining hygiene in a bid to curb cases of diarrhoea.

According to the head of Mulumbe FM, Anunda Sakwa, the team has visited three counties out of the five in the region, which they hope to reach before the end of this year.

The Mulembe FM family also donated Sh28,000 among other goodies to St John’s Bulanda Church, which was hosting the event.

Speaking to Citizen Digital during the exercise, the health officer noted that the number of deaths due to diarrhoea among children under the age of 5 years is high and urged parents to observe hygiene.

Mbuva expressed hope that with the help of Mulembe FM, they will reach out to many residents in the region and educate them on the need to observe good hygiene to curb cases of diarrhea in the Western region.
