Multiple dormitories razed down in Kilifi

Property worth thousands of shillings was destroyed in two separate incidents after dormitories in two schools in Kilifi County caught fire.

The fires are reported to have started while students were in class for preps.

The first school was Dtizoni Secondary School where a girls’ dormitory was burnt down and Chumani Secondary where a boys’ dormitory was also razed down.

Some students sustained minor injuries during an attempt to salvage property.

Kilifi OCPD Joshua ole Lena said that they suspect the fire was started by students who might be ‘afraid’ of exams and are anxious over Mock exams at the end of the term.

Ole Lena, however, added that investigations into the incidents have been launched.
