Mungatana grilled over Ksh51 million theft

Former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana is currently being grilled by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives over the theft of Ksh51 million from Kilifi County coffers.

Mungatana, who is eyeing the Tana River governor’s seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, was linked to the scam by a businesswoman who claimed the politician used her company as a conduit to illegally receive Ksh9.1 million from the Kilifi County Goverment.

Mungatana has already denied the claims by Lucy Wanjugu Kibogodi, a director of Zohal Services Limited, which was named as one of the beneficiaries of the loot.

Wanjugu swore an affidavit last year claiming Mungatana was part of the theft engineered through IFMIS.
