Munya accuses leaders of attempting to sabotage Devolution Conference

Council of Governors chairperson Peter Munya has criticised a section of leaders who he accused of sabotaging the just concluded third annual Devolution Conference that was held in Meru.

Speaking in Imenti South, Munya claimed there were pamphlets circulated in Meru portraying him as corrupt and a dictator in an effort to disrupt the conference.

He blamed cartels for allegedly sabotaging health services at Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital by interfering with medical equipment so that National Government can supply similar machines.

Munya at the same time welcomed the move by President Uhuru Kenyatta to inject Sh1 billion to revive the struggling miraa sector, urging government to source new markets for the product.

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga had on Friday accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto of frustrating devolution after they both skipped the ongoing 3rd Annual Devolution Conference in Meru County.

Raila said the state has proved to be an enemy of devolution working with their agents to frustrate devolution.

The CORD Leader also hit out at Senators for giving the event a wide berth, saying Senators are bitter with Governors since the county chiefs enjoy more powers than them.
