Munya asks counties to remit pension funds on time

Council of Governors chair Peter Munya has warned county government against failing to remit their workers’ pensions as required by law, saying such actions are illegal.

Speaking at Kenya Methodist University in Imenti North Sub County during the Annual General Meeting for County Pension Funds, Munya accused some counties of ignorance in releasing the funds for county staff to the national pension scheme NSSF, committing to follow up the matter to secure the employees’ retirement funds.

Munya was responding to complaints by Kenya County Government Workers Union General-Secretary Roba Duba that some counties were delaying release of the statutory deductions to pension schemes.

Also present was Devolution PS Amani Mabruki who called for collaboration at county and national levels to ensure employees enjoy their benefits after retirement.
