Munya tells Kiunjuri to keep off Meru politics

Meru Governor, Peter Munya, wants the Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Planning, Mwangi Kiunjiri, to keep off Meru politics.

Munya accused Kiunjuri of trying to meddle with the Meru region politics saying that the move will not be taken lightly.

He said that the Devolution CS does not enjoy the support of the Gikuyu, Embu and Meru Association (GEMA) to influence the political patterns.

Speaking at Laare Trading Centre in Igembe North Sub County during the launch of Meru County drilling rig on Tuesday, October 18, Governor Munya, who is also the Council of Governors Chairman, said Kiunjuri should focus first on getting support from his locality; Laikipia County.

“Kiunjuri vied for governorship seat on a GNU party ticket in the 2013 General Election but lost, later getting favor from President Uhuru Kenyatta who appointed him as Cabinet Secretary,” said Munya.

Governor Munya warned Kiunjuri against forcing voters to join his party saying Kenya is a democratic country and every citizen should be given a chance to freely exercise their rights.
