Munya tells off Ruto for attending fundraisers

Meru Governor Peter Munya now says that Deputy President William Ruto should stop enticing the Mt Kenya voters through fundraisers saying that the Jubilee Administration needs to focus on delivering on its mandate to the electorate instead on attending harambees.

Munya said that he was not against the DP’s attending of fundraisers but accused him and the Jubilee administration of neglecting the county when it comes to development.

He argued that the Jubilee administration has concentrated on developing other areas and neglected Meru which voted overwhelmingly for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013.

Munya, who is also the Council of Governors chairman, was addressing the residents of Maili Tatu and Laare in Igembe on Sunday, November 27 during his homecoming as the chairperson of the Party of National Unity (PNU).

He expressed his disapproval of Jubilee’s slow pace of implementing the development projects in Meru and other Mt Kenya areas.

On the Miraa politics, Munya said the Ksh 1.2 billion set aside by the Jubilee administration to cushion Nyambene’s economy was a campaign tool for next year saying that the Meru people will not be used and dumped after polls.

He also accused Meru Senator, Kiraitu Murungi, of spreading propaganda that he was using county funds to bankroll PNU activities.

Kiraitu had on Sunday accompanied DP Ruto to Kaaga Methodist Church in Imenti North and Kionyo Methodist Church in Imenti South where he said that the PNU activities were being funded from the county kitty.

Munya and Kiraitu, were once close political allies but fell apart in 2015 with Kiraitu now seeking to unseat Munya in the 2017 polls.
