Murang’a on high alert as four test positive for Cholera

Four people are presently admitted in isolation at the Murang’a Level 5 Hospital after they tested positive for Cholera in Murang’a County.

Murang’a Public Health Officer Muthui Gitonga, in a letter to the Health CEC seen by Citizen Digital, said the cases – which were confirmed via rapid test – are from Mjini and Kayole areas.

Mr. Gitonga further stated that the hospital’s Disease Surveillance Officer has since taken necessary action and is in the process of setting up a CTU.

“The departments will crackdown on food hawking and illegal food plants within town and suburbs in view of which the staff on leave have been recalled with immediate effect,” he added.

“In view of the above, I am requesting for material assistance and that you inform the concerned offices about the same.”
