Muranga woman sets husband ablaze over domestic feud

Residents in Murang’a are mourning the death of a man who was set ablaze by his wife following a domestic feud.

The woman, Mary Kabura, reportedly splashed kerosene to his husband, Samuel Kimani, while he was asleep, setting him ablaze before locking him and their children in the bedroom.

Neighbours were alerted by the screams emanating from the house prompting them to break in and save the two children (aged 2 and 9) who were found unharmed. They were however late to save the husband.

Prior to the incident, the couple had been involved in a bitter confrontation at around 3am over unclear issues.

Police arrived at the scene an hour after the incident and, together with the residents, launched a manhunt for the suspect.

The suspect was later found lying unconscious at around 6am after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance.

She was taken to Murang’a General Hospital where she is recuperating.

The deceased was taken to Murang’a County Mortuary.
