Murder for profit: Court orders Kasyoki to undergo mental evaluation

A court has directed that Evans Masaku Kasyoki, the man accused of killing his nephew for Ksh.9million insurance claim be taken for mental check up.

Kasyoki appeared before Deputy Register Kipchumba Kenei on Wednesday and has been remanded at the Machakos GK Prison until he takes his plea on September 17.

This comes just a day after detectives from the Kasarani DCI offices arrested him at his Roysambu home following a tip off by members of the public.

He was then transferred to Kagundo DCI office ahead of his arraignment in court.

Kasyoki’s arrest follows an expose aired by Citizen TV last Sunday that elicited public outrage.

Reports then emerged that Kasyoki had evaded police for almost four years.

Kasyoki is accused of killing his nephew so he could collect his life insurance money worth Ksh.9 million.

Citizen TV aired the shocking expose on the mysterious death of his 27-year-old nephew Eric Makau Musyoka.

The late Makau, who was jobless, had two life insurance policies in his name, one worth Ksh.1 million with Jubilee Insurance and the other worth Ksh.8 million.
