Murkomen is diverting Kenyans’ attention, says Mbadi on Mau evictions

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi has accused Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen of trying to divert the attention of Kenyans from the war on graft.

Mbadi scoffed at the Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator over his recent remarks that the current evictions at the Mau forest is as a result of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

“There are some people who recently joined the government through the backdoor and are working with some government officials to remove people from Mau,” Murkomen claimed on Thursday, July 19.

The Suba South MP further accused Murkomen and allies of Deputy President William Ruto of coming up with such allegations due to fear of the on-going purge on corruption, terming such statements as “reckless, careless and immature.”

“Someone like Murkomen, because they fear lifestyle audit, are the ones who want to divert our attention that Raila is the one evicting people from Mau. Who is this foolish Kenyan who can believe that Raila, a private citizen of this country can evict anybody from anywhere?” posed Mbadi.

“So this talk by Murkomen is reckless, careless, and immature for a leader of his stature.”

Speaking in Rarieda Constituency, the lawmaker urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to crack the whip on corruption without fear, saying NASA leaders would protect him from impeachment.

“I want to ask the President, who is the appointing authority,  that he should not fear anyone. The time when he was being threatened with impeachment is gone. If a section of Jubilee wants to impeach him, as NASA we will protect him if he is fighting corruption.”

Mbadi called for the sacking of Energy CS Charles Keter over the recent Kenya Power scandal, accusing him of defending cartels.

“Money has been lost in Kenya Power, and then you find a Cabinet Secretary in the name of Charles Keter defending corrupt cartels and he’s still in office, such a person should leave office as early as yesterday,” said the ODM Chairman.
