Murkomen hits out at Governor Tolgos over unfair distribution of resources

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has taken a swipe at Governor Alex Tolgos over apparent bias in the allocation of resources in the county.

Speaking at Kamwosor social hall grounds during a fundraiser for women groups, Murkomen said that the trend is unacceptable, as the resources must be utilized accordingly and in consideration with the Constitution to benefit all the residents of the county.

“The county government needs to answer questions on biased allocation of resources in Elgeyo Marakwet. Additionally, there are concerns that recurrent expenditure is high and yet most of the areas lament over cases of unemployment,” said Murkomen.

He further challenged the leadership of the county to prudently use the resources and avoid spending taxpayers’ money on unnecessary expenditures including bloggers and social media users out to tarnish other people’s reputation.

The senator further hit out at former Inspector of Police David Kimaiyo, who has expressed interest in rivaling him for the seat in 2017, saying he failed to ensure the country’s security during his time in office.

“Let me tell those who dream of vying for senatorial seat that they should try MCA position because Senate needs serious people who can lobby for resources,” he added.

Relationship between the senator and the governor has of late seemed frosty with reports indicating that Murkomen may be supporting Keiyo South MP Jackson Kiptanui to take on Governor Tolgos in 2017 governorship race.
