Musila resigns from Wiper after losing primaries to Malombe

Kitui Senator, David Musila, has resigned as the Chairperson and member of the Wiper Democratic Movement, just a day after Governor Julius Malombe was handed the party’s gubernatorial nomination ticket.

The governor was declared winner of Kitui’s Wiper Party gubernatorial ticket after garnering 88,382 votes against Musila’s 74,308 votes, results that the latter has refuted claiming that the exercise was marred with electoral malpractices including intimidation, violence and destruction of election materials.

Musila has since declared that he will be vying as an independent candidate in the county’s governorship race in the coming August Polls.

“I hereby declare that I have tendered my resignation as a member and the chair of Wiper Party,” said the Kitui Senator.

Senator Musila is alleging that the party leadership is bias against him by virtue of declaring his rival yet according to him, he is the authentic winner of the Wiper’s ticket.

“This is a party I founded along with other leaders but the behavior of the party leader clearly shows bias against me,” added Musila, who prior to 2013 General Election was representing Mwingi South constituents in the National Assembly since 1997.
