Muslim Cleric Shot Dead In Mombasa

Sheikh Salim Bakari Mwarangi was shot dead while on his way to mosque for evening prayers.

Witnesses say the cleric was attacked while heading to Majengo Mapya mosque situated in Likoni.

According to  an eye witness, Mwarangi was shot three times; twice in the abdomen and once in the arm by two attackers who were riding on a motorbike.

The witness says that the attackers sped off after the shooting.

The killing comes barely a few months after a similar attack on Sheikh Mohamed Idris who was the chairman of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya in the same location.
