Muslim Leaders Want Lamu Curfew Lifted

The MPs who included Ali Wario, Shakila Abdalla and Billow Kerrow argued that the dusk to dawn curfew was unlawful and should be lifted immediately.

The Mps are accusing the national government of not involving Muslim leaders across the country in efforts to curb insecurity in the affected Lamu County.

They are also accusing government of sabotaging Lamu economy by continually extending the 6pm to 6am curfew.

The Lamu curfew started in June this year following attacks that left over 60 people dead.

The leaders' demands came on a day that four mosques that had been closed in Mombasa County over insecurity were re-opened.

The mosques had been closed down after reports they had been infiltrated by radicalized youths.
