Mutahi Ngunyi fails to appear before MPs probing NYS scam

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi failed to appear before a Parliamentary watch dog committee that is examining a special audit report on the accounts of the National Youth Service(NYS).

Ngunyi, who was expected to be questioned by members of the House Public Accounts Committee over his dealing with the service, failed to turn up, prompting the postponement of the sitting.

The committee chair, Nicholas Gumbo, said the political scientist, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of The Consulting House Limited, will appear before them next week, after he admitted that he did not receive summons to appear before the committee.

Auditor General, Edward Ouko, in his report established that Ngunyi’s Consulting House had two contracts with the NYS amounting to to 90 million shillings.
