Muthama speaks: Why I dumped Kalonzo

Former Machakos Senator and a former ally of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka Johnstone Muthama now says the nomination of Kenneddy Musyoka- Kalonzo’s son- to the East African Legislative Assembly was the last straw that broke their relation.

Muthama who has been making headlines in the recent past over his association with Deputy President William Ruto says he felt betrayed by Kalonzo after he nominated his son to EALA, at the expense of other Wiper members.

According to Muthama, the decision painted Kalonzo as a selfish person who only cares about the welfare of his family and not the Kenyan electorate.

‘’Tell me, did you see Jaramogi Oginga nominate his sons to any political office? Did you see the first President nominate his sons? Even Raila Odinga has never tried that, what does that tell you about Kalonzo?’’ Muthama posed.

The outspoken leader says he had already started having misgivings about Kalonzo and his leadership style prior to the 2017 General Elections.

It is for this reason that Mutham says he choose not to vie for any elective position.

Further, he says that nominations were rigged to favor the highest bidders, noting that he didn’t want to be part of what he calls a mockery of the democracy.

In June, Muthama was required to write to Wiper to explain why action should not be taken against him says he has already written back wishing the party well in their future endeavors.

‘’Its good riddance, ni kama kupiga chura teke (It’s like kicking a frog) they are actually helped me make up my mind over leaving the Wiper.

On his association with DP William Ruto, Muthama says he has no apologies to make and will fully support his bid to become Kenya’s next president.

‘’Let them organize themselves and we organize ourselves, let’s meet on the ballot, we are not afraid of them’’ he says.
