Muthaura in court to testify in Anglo Leasing case

The former Head of Civil Service, Francis Muthaura, appeared before Anglo Leasing trial court as a witness to set records straight on how the government operated in contract awards.

This even as an Anti-Corruption Court dismissed an application by defense to amend a charge sheet in order to delete the name of former Cabinet Minister, David Mwiraria, in the Anglo Leasing case.

Felix Kombo, the trial Magistrate, however, said that the case against Mwiraria has abated  and there was no need to amend the charge sheet

The Magistrate gave the guidance even as the prosecution complained that it was having difficulties in bonding Bungoma Senator, Amos Wako, and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Jacinta Mwatela, to shed more light about the Anglo Leasing contracts, which the government later cancelled without notice.

The prosecution had listed 53 witnesses to testify against the late Muiraria, businessmen Deepak and Rashmi Kamani and former senior government officers Joseph Magari and, David Mwangi.
