Mwathethe Takes Mantle as Chief of Kenya Defence Forces

General Mwathethe replaces General Julius Karangi who has retired after 42 years in military service.

Mwathethe, who has been serving as the Vice Chief of KDF, was appointed to replace Karangi last month by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Karangi handed over the mantle to Mwathethe at the Department of Defence Headquarters in Hurlingham, Nairobi.
