My enemies planning to ‘finish’ me – Governor Nanok

Turkana Governor, Josephat Nanok, claims that there is a plot by his political nemesis to end his leadership career.

Speaking in Turkana on Tuesday, October 4, Nanok said that some MPs, together with his deputy governor, Peter Lokoel, are plotting to frustrate his re-election bid and rig the elections in favour of his opponents, especially those in Jubilee.

“Only John Lodepe Nakara from Turkana Central has stuck with me, the rest, including my deputy governor, have drifted and are being used by some forces from Nairobi to bring me down due to my opposition of the Jubilee leadership,” said the governor.

“They have threatened to rig the elections in favour of their candidate in 2017 General Election and ‘finish’ me.”

He, however, noted that he would not be shaken by the threats from the legislators saying he has the support of the people who will ensure he is re-elected.

James Lomenen, Turkana South Member of Parliament, said that they do not have plans to end Nanok’s political career.

“We have no plans of ‘killing’ Governor Nanok’s career. In fact we are praying that he lives longer to see us win the elections in 2017.”

Some of the leaders from the region who have defected to Jubilee include Senator John Munyes, who was the Ford Kenya chair, Turkana East MP, Nicholas Ngikor, and his Loima counterpart, Protus Akuja.
