Auma Obama has mourned her grandmother Mama Sarah Obama, who passed on in Kisumu early Monday morning.

Auma, taking to social media, eulogised Mama Sarah as her rock and inspiration, adding that she was the most important person in her life.

“Just lost the most important person in my life – my gran, Mama Sarah. My heart is broken! But as I write, not able to stop the tears from pouring, I know I was blessed to have her for so long! My inspiration, my rock, my comfort zone, my safe space. Rest in peace Dani,” she wrote.

She further expressed gratitude to all Kenyans online who have since sent condolence messages to her and her family saying she feels the love.

“To all of you sending messages, know that I am seeing them and am hearing you all. Just cannot reply to all. Thank you, thank you for your condolences! I feel your love and concern,” added Auma, former U.S. President Barack Obama’s half-sister.

Sarah Obama, former US President Barack Obama’s grandmother, died in Kisumu aged 99.

According to the family, Mama Sarah passed on at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital after a short illness at around 4.45am.
