My life is in danger, Former LSK chair Erick Mutua claims

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) chair Erick Mutua has claimed that his life is in danger.

Mutua spoke after his convoy was allegedly ambushed by youth purported to be supporters of his rival for the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat at Maai in Mwingi East Sub County ,Friday night.

Speaking at Mwingi Police Station after recording a statement, Mutua claimed that former Public Works Principal Secretary Gideon Mulyungi had been using youth to attack him.

Mulyungi also showed up at the police station moments after Erick Mutua had left, recording a statement alleging that his supporters had been attacked by Mutua’s supporters.

Mulyungi also leveled several accusations against the former LSK chair, claiming that he has defrauded some residents of Mwingi whose cases he (Mutua) handled.

He has also accused his opponent of resorting to violence and unwarranted accusations in his campaigns.

Mwingi Central is expected to be a hot battle ground in the coming elections, with several candidates expressing interest in the parliamentary seat which is currently being held by Joe Mutambu.

Mutambu has since defected from Wiper to Jubilee.
