Mysterious disease kills 11 family members in Londiani

A family in Londiani, Kericho County is living in fear after a mysterious disease claimed 11 of its members within a period of 17 years.

The disease has left doctors puzzled; it causes hearing loss, loss of memory and damages the nervous system.

Despite numerous visits to local hospital, the family still does not know what the disease is as doctors could not help them.

Citizen TV visited the home on Thursday and found 11 grave-sites that now serve as a permanent reminder of their woes.

Moses Langat is one of those remaining, battling with the mysterious disease.

He struggles to shift into a comfortable position, trembling as he strains to perform daily routines.

When it is time to eat, he gets involuntary static motions; whatever is ravaging his body is doing so quietly but aggressively.

“Dalili za kwanza unalemewa kuongea, ulimi inajaa kwa mdomo….,” Richard Langat, the family spokesperson said.

Another neighbour, Cathrene Limo, who spoke to Citizen TV added: “Hii kitu napata tu mtu, ata ukiolewa huko.”

Robert Chumo, a resident from Kiploky Village pleaded for help saying: “Sisi tunaomba tu ule mtu ata kuwa na uwezo madaktari.”
