The Kenyan medical profession is once again in mourning after yet another member lost the fight to COVID-19.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), in a statement released on Friday, announced the passing on of Nairobi-based neurologist Paul Guchu Ngigi Kioy.

KMPDU, in the statement posted on social networking site Twitter, said Prof. Kioy succumbed to coronavirus related complications.

The union mourned the deceased as a “great teacher and mentor to many doctors in the country,” adding that he served his patients with diligence.

“The welfare, safety and health of doctors is paramount to the fight against COVID-19,” reiterated the union.
