Nairobi County starts demolition of condemned buildings

The County Government of Nairobi has commenced demolition of condemned buildings in the city after the lapsing of the seven-day notice issued to residents to vacate.

County bulldozers are currently bringing down buildings that were earmarked for demolition in Nairobi’s low-income Huruma estate.

Nairobi County Lands Minister Christopher Khaemba said an elaborate plan on how the demolitions will be executed would be released during the Tuesday morning.

Kidero had suspended demolition of buildings condemned by the National Construction Authority for a week to give tenants sufficient time to find houses elsewhere before they are brought down.
