Nairobi County workers suspend strike to allow SRC talks
Nairobi County workers have suspended their strike to pave way for talks with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
This comes after a 10-day standoff that saw them refuse to negotiate.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani held a meeting with the union officials last week but his efforts to have them rescind their strike call bore no fruits.
The union leaders said they would pursue the implementation of 15percent salary increment in court.
They are demanding a pay rise of between 15 and 28 percent.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko met the workers last Tuesday pleading them to get back to work and assuring them that the deal will be implemented.
At the time, workers blamed the SRC for allegedly hindering their negotiated collective bargain agreement.
