Nairobi: Five suspects charged over attempt to break into Prime Bank

Five men were Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court and charged over an attempt to drill into prime bank for a robbery.

The suspects; Reuben Njukia Ngunyu, Charles Mugo Njokia, Jesee Muriuki Murumia, Fredrick Muderwa Anaya and Gabriel Mugai Muthoni, were charged with planning to commit a felony.

According to the charge sheet, on July 2, 2021 at about half past midnight, at Angle Kenda House bar and restaurant along Ukwala lane in the Nairobi CBD, the accused were found with various crude weapons that indicated they were there for an illegal purpose namely shop breaking.

They denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Ksh.300,000 each.

The first accused, Reuben Njukia Ngunyu was denied bail as he was arrested while out on bail on a similar charge.

The case will come up for mention on the 19th of this month.
