Nairobi Hospital denies cholera outbreak at facility

Nairobi Hospital has denied claims of a cholera outbreak within the facility.

This follows news making rounds on social media that a staff member from the Catering Department died following the outbreak.

” There is no outbreak of Cholera at the Nairobi Hospital. No patient is at risk and we are continuously monitoring. All precautionary measures are in place,” Nairobi Hospital said in a statement on Tuesday.

The hospital however cited the recent outbreak of cholera in Nairobi County saying eight of their employees were affected and are admitted to hospital.

Acting CEO Dr. Chris Abeid revealed that in the last ten days, the hospital admitted, treated and discharged 23 cholera patients.

According to him, they alerted County Health authorities as part of ongoing internal investigations and officers are currently at the hospital.

“We affirm our commitment to ensuring that those already correctly diagnosed get timely and quality healthcare,” Dr. Abeid said.
