Dandora estate tests five positive coronavirus cases as tally jumps to 336

Kenya has recorded 16 cases of the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 336.

The new cases are from 946 samples tested in the country in the last 24 hours.

Addressing the media from Afya House on Friday, Health CAS Rashid Aman explained that all the new cases had been picked out by the ministry’s surveillance team.

Out of the 16 cases, 11 are from Nairobi and are spread out as follows: Dandora 5, City Park-2 Parklands-2, Eastleigh-1, Parkland -1.

In Dandora, the infections began from one case who was asymptomatic. All the cases are currently in quarantine.

In Mombasa the cases are spread out as follows;  Kiembeni (1), Centi Kumi (1), Stadium (1), Msikiti Nuru (1) and Mulaloni (1).

The government has embarked on tracing the 887 contacts of the new cases.

At the same time, five more patients have been discharged from quarantine centres having fully recovered.

This brings the total number of recovered cases in the country to 95.

The total number of fatalities since the outbreak was first reported in the country is 14 people.
