Naivasha crash survivor succumbs to injuries, death toll now 43
One more survivor of the horrific road accident at Karai in Naivasha County has succumbed to his injuries, bringing the number of deaths to 43.
The patient, who had been admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital, passed away on Monday after suffering serious burns during the grisly Saturday night accident.
His death leaves only one survivor of the tragedy admitted at the hospital.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nathan Kogotho of the National Disaster Operations Center said DNA samples from 28 families have so far been collected as they work to identify the bodies.
He added that those who have given DNA samples have been released to go home and return once the process has been concluded.
Speaking on Monday, an official of the National Disaster Operations Center said that 33 bodies would be identified using DNA in a process that would take two weeks.
Six bodies of GSU officers who perished in the crash were identified on Sunday.
