Naivasha Residents Hunt For Hidden Treasures

Waweru Karanja, a resident of Maraigushu village claim that the treasures include an old Land Rover buried around 1900 by British soldiers

Waweru claims that they have already found traces of some metals inside the well constructed caves.

The treasures located in man made caves, are reportedly worth millions of shillings

All roads led to the village as word spread of the find with some youths embarking on excavation of the caves.

Armed with metal bars and lights, the youths ventured deep into the caves with hopes that this would turn them into millionaires.

Another resident Isaac Ngotho says the rush for the alleged treasures started over three weeks ago.

Ngotho added that there were indications that the caves were manually made.

“We come from poor backgrounds and this is the only way of enriching us and we are committed to getting these treasures that were left behind by British soldiers,” he added.

A visit to the site found tens of youths engaged in digging deeper into the caves confident that their lives would change for the better.
